MechSE’s Abigail Gerth, Kenneth Hoffmann, and Becky Lankford have been named to the Senior 100 Honorary at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Abigail will graduate with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. During her undergraduate career, she has gained experience in manufacturing and operations through her internships with Grayhill, Inc. and AbbVie, Inc. On campus over the last four years, she has dedicated her time to the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), specifically the Outreach Committee, where she was one of the Outreach Committee Directors during the 2016-2017 school year. After graduation, Abigail will be working for AbbVie, Inc. in a two-year rotation program where she hopes to continue her professional development while gaining additional technical knowledge in the medical industry. She also hopes to be involved in the professional section of SWE.

Kenneth is earning his B.S. in mechanical engineering and is excited to pursue graduate studies in mechanical engineering as well, focusing in controls, sustainable transportation, and clean energy. Kenneth has been heavily involved on campus with Illini EcoConcept, Engineering 100, Illini Cycling, and undergraduate research. Off campus, Kenneth has interned with various companies within tech, aviation, and industrial equipment. Beyond his technical interests, Kenneth is curious about the policy implications of science and technology and plans on pursuing a career which combines his technical interests with these fields.

Becky will earn a B.S. in mechanical engineering and is also completing the Hoeft Technology and Management Program. In May 2016, she traveled to China with the program. In her free time, Becky enjoys watching and playing sports. She’s a member of the Illini Handball Club. As a leader in Illini Pride, Becky serves as Orange Krush Chair for Illini men’s basketball games. Becky was honored to be a 2016-2017 recipient of the Sargent and Lundy Engineering Scholarship.

Each year thousands of talented students graduate from the University of Illinois and enter the largest Alumni network in the world. Senior 100 Honorary, sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association and Student Alumni Ambassadors, aims to recognize 100 of these graduates for their notable achievements as students as well as their future commitment to the university. The honorees are active campus leaders who have developed leadership skills and demonstrate University loyalty through their past campus involvement as well as their future plans. These students will become alumni that enthusiastically bring their sense of responsibility to new communities while staying tied to the University of Illinois.
