Phenomena that occur at the nanoscale (a nanometer is one-billionth of a meter) can have widespread impact on industries such as health care and electronics, but only if the methodologies and tools that exploit the phenomena exist. The Nano-CEMMS Center is focused on the problem of fabricating structures at sizes smaller than can be seen (transduced) and manipulated (transcribed). The Center's vision is to make the most basic elements of manufacturing, the transcription of matter and the transduction of its state, a practical reality at the nanoscale.
The WaterCAMPWS Mission
Our twin missions are to develop revolutionary new materials and systems to safely and economically purify water for the peoples of the U.S. and the world, and to develop the human resources to advance the science and technology of water purification. The WaterCAMPWS is a research and education center for increasing water supplies for human use through enhanced treatment technologies.
The WaterCAMPWS Vision
The Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory focuses on the dynamics and control of principally on-highway vehicles. The lab combines analysis and simulation with experimental testing on dynamically scaled vehicles. Experimental facilities center around the Illinois Roadway Simulator which is a novel, scaled, mechatronic testbed.
The Scientific Computing Lab consists of 10 networked Sun workstations used for various projects relating to solidification and casting.
